What are the age limits?
Puppies and kittens must be at least 8 weeks of age to be enrolled. There is no upper age limit for the Lifelong Accident Policy. With Lifelong Accident + Illness, and Lifelong Accident + Illness + Good Health Rewards, if dogs and cats are enrolled by their 9th birthday, then they are eligible for Lifelong Cover for the rest of their lives.

Unlike some policies that cease at a certain age, Vets Own Pet Health Insurance looks after our senior pets. We help make those "olden years golden years".

We love to see older dogs and cats, fifteen years and older, having an active and enjoyable life, cherished by their loving family.

What is the definition of an Accidental Injury?
An Accidental Injury is defined as "A physical or bodily injury which, happens accidentally to your pet as a result of external, violent and visible means".

Examples include:
  • broken bones resulting from a car accident.
  • trauma resulting from a fight with another animal.
All three Vets Own policies cover Accidental Injuries.

What about Microchips?
Microchips are the most wonderful advance to benefit your pet. Everyone who has had a lost or missing pet knows the heartache associated with that absence.

Pets with microchips are able to be reunited with their family, instead of being sent to the local pound, with the possibility of death row. Vets Own Pet Health Insurance can help track down missing pets by keeping microchip details on file, in combination with our Pet ID register.

A microchip is not required to make a claim with Vets Own Pet Health Insurance, except in states where microchipping is mandatory, but it is preferable as this provides permanent identification.

Your vet can advise you on the best time to insert a microchip in your pet. Microchips can be part of your Good Health Rewards.
